    They are doing it to keep wages down (after all is not that what govt is supposed to do?) while looking after various interest groups. The 200,000 figure is a gross under-statement when you count all the other categories - its more like 400,000 p.a. now.

    I used to think that immigration was needed for all those factories we used to build, but not even when you have massive de-industrialisation you actually have to increase the level of immigration into the capital cities (another Lib/Lab brainstormer).

    The congestion in Sydney and Melbourne are unacceptable while many long-term social assets such as power stations are sold overseas to fund the infrastructure for the extra population (some really brilliant economics in play here).
