Flow rate gushers makes for good headlines but ultimately have little impact on the economics. A higher flow rate just depletes the pressure faster which means the flow rate falls faster. As long as the flow rate is comfortably economic the important number is connected volume.
Still, the ASX announcement headline would be worth it by itself for the market frenzy.
As far as I'm aware the record flow test volume onshore Australia is actually one of the Palm Valley wells from the Amadeus, which flowed 137 MMscfd on DST. Waitsia 4 was 90 MMscfd on production test, WE-2 has both higher net and higher pressure. Could it challenge Palm Valley? It seems possible... It all comes down to the permeability.
