Those who wrote the works that landed up as scripture had a message to spread. Those people included Paul who did a great job of using his Greek connections and Roman citizenship to shape Christianity.
Outside scripture there are few records of the works of Christ and his death and resurrection in spite of numerous authors of that period. This is surprising given the extraordinary claims made by the gospel authors.
The Islamic prophet manged to start a worldwide religion without a crucifixion and resurrection narrative. That must count for something.
