Thats what its all about, Dave, moisture. If there is moisture in the air, it is warmer. Similarly, if the stars are really clearly defined at night before hopping in the swag, you know its going to be a cold one -because the air is dry. If the stars seem a bit hazy, it means you have water vapour and its not going to be too bad. I used to work all summer without a shirt and be virtually black in high dry-heat temperatures.......yet when you got the "haze" that precedes tropical thunderstorm activity, I would feel myself burning. I've seen full-blood Aboriginals burnt and peeling in those conditions. So temperature is obviously relative to the amount of water vapour in the air, and thats why one can freeze their bollocks off at night in desert country.
