Because our world needs it as the impact of climate change is getting clearer and more dramatic by the day driving the need to act against it. You combine global agreements and policy commitments to action (in a post Trump world, or he could even flip!) with a clear lower cost business case and new convenience (self driving, almost no power outage risk) and lower costs due to economy of scale, and you will see an uptake on an unprecedented scale!
