I live in Wellington and a lot of ppl are excited by the prospects of some growth in the region. It comes as no surprise that there is a significant find out at Bodangora. The old Commonwealth was one of the richest producing mines in NSW circa 1905. I was happy to buy into Alkane a few years ago when the Rare Earths project started to materialise about 40kms from me as the crow flies. There is some decent groundwater in the Bodangora area but perceived mismanagement of Burrendong Dam water reserves has left us in a perilous position and water may be a major factor in production downstream - no pun intended. We are currently living in fear of the beautiful old Macquarie running dry that I have lived and floated on for 60 years. The cotton producers down stream could be the fly in the ointment for our future out here. This drought and lack of water is to put it mildly - scary. There is a local push for the powers that be and local politicians never let Burrendong fall below 30% in the future unlike the flogging it usually gets when the puddle is full. The Macquarie is in close proximity to Bodangora. I am told with the drought old exploration holes are surfacing everywhere near the Bodangora airstrip as the old grasses die back. Interesting. There IS gold in them thar hills........
