Wow, even PB is saying 2020 is the make or break year...
I think the key take out from this is the project was/is always ambitious. There are no low risk paths to production e.g. DSO Hence the revision(s) inevitably came as those willing to finance the project place their demands.
I for one am guilty of not understanding the complexities of the project which was clearly far too ambitious and large in the first place. Whilst the metals produced have established markets there has been resistance or simple failure of acceptance that the project will get off the ground. We must remember people are relatively simple and resist change such as proposed by TNG. IMO the trail blazing TNG are doing sounds romantic but most wont believe it until its proven. With this risk, and non belief, there is a cost in time and money.
IMO it is a big tick to have revised the project to a smaller (which is not really that small) meaningful project size. It certainly explains all the silence as TNG worked through the process to get to this revised project and announcement. Perhaps now TNG can finalise the other permitting aspects this year and next year test if the financiers are going to commit.
