I've been reading up a bit on the court case and it really does seem like bizarre reasoning from the ACCC. Surely we'd be better off as consumers having three strong companies competing (e.g Telstra, Optus and the merged TPG/VHA) rather than blocking it on the basis that it "might" force a weakened TPG to try and build a mobile network which by all reports isn't going to be that viable anyway. What has concerned me is that it seems TPG really were planning to go ahead with this until the merger popped up? Or was it always a bit of a smokescreen?
