I am a grand assumer, Madam Tau. I open my mouth only to change feet.

We struggle with the concept of the here and now. It is but a passing moment and is modern only because it happens to be the white-water on the crest of our passing wave. A thousand years from now during the great recovery from the consequences of this age, our moment will be a sad and miserable reflection upon a people who took too much and gave too little. It will be known as the Kardashian age, an age when it looked like we where getting somewhere and achieving something, but really it was all consumerism and show, with little substance.

Religion is not immune from this age either. Religion is a relative truth, thus a work in progress, as we are. It's 2019 and our religions are from 1,400 to 3,000 years ago. They don't have a medicine or remedy for this age. This age is way beyond the scope or capacity of any of the mainstream religions to effect change. I think the Baha'i Faith just might be the answer, but there's very few taking them seriously, including myself. Maybe they will when the screaming starts, that tends to be how it works.

I happen to think that religion is our only best hope of saving ourselves from ourselves, but even if the perfect religion was gifted to us on a plate, societies no longer understand what they need, what might benefit us. People laugh when you mention morality and virtues. People want somebody else do the heavy lifting, after all, they pay taxes don't they, meanwhile we move to a point of real and dreadful consequence.

Australia's environment is devastated, just fly over it and you will see it's just a patchwork of boutique forests. At one stage we were clearing QLD faster than the rainforests in Brazil. We have the highest mammal extinction rate of any country, but we somehow think we have a right to rip into the Brazilians. It's everybody's problem now. Their problem is our problem. If we want them to keep their forests for us, it's going to cost us.
