New shares list on a deferred settlement basis, meaning shares won’t be entitled to dividend (punters are just trading their entitlements to new shares early).Actual new shares ( from your entitlement or those you buy on market as deferred settlement) won’t be allocated or recognised until after the record date.

The only way to get the dividend is to buy on market ordinary shares (not deferred settlement ones) before the ex dividend date of 10 October.

Your entitlement shares, if you buy them, and why wouldn’t you, will be entitled to next years dividend.
