redabyss, actually VCR is more advanced than its competitors. My reseach shows the following please feel free to correct me if you have better: There are 3 3rd gen centrifugual devices. One has yet to commence human trial. One only did its first implant in late Jan this year. The other is VCR. There is one 3rd gen axial device already on sale and cleared in Europe.
