    big e -
'getting on well' - is an understatement - but suffice to say, we would most likely never 'not' be friends: I don't quite get it as on the surface of things, we are an unlikely combination. But 'things' being what they are, namely undefined and mostly invented and defined by humans, are of a transient nature and changeable. . . . . also NBD has made other friends here in W.A. and is looking forward to meeting them in person. So it won't be just 'me' he has to entertain himself with.

I hope you are well, big e! I had been thinking along the same lines as your friend re your travel plans
I have travelled around Christmas and caught a granddaddy of a cold - not entirely through my neglect, but by doing 'stuff' and being led astray and left in a drafty open-air shopping center for an hour (because she had forgotten about me) by my elderly opposite number over in England, only realising later that she is suffering early onset Alzheimers or similar.
It is amazing what a classy English accent can hide and disguise!

Anyways: travel when suffering from a cold, or 'suffering' anything, even a sore ankle etc. isn't much fun! Get yourself really well, go to the local Gym - here they have weight-lifting etc. classes for older people - I don't bother, lift enough weights round my home and garden (haha - but true) - but I am keeping it in mind, should I ever decide to down-size. Friends of mine, (but they are still a couple) have joined dance classes after both of them suffered from and recovered from cancer. They now look years younger than their actual age.
I noticed you refer to dancing quite frequently in your posts - I think you'll find there are many willing dance partners out there. this could be the exercise of your choice - and then here comes the world, Big E!!!
