I'm flattered that you think I can answer a tax or foreign investment question..
Thats beyond my pay grade As the naivety of the answer will show.
I am stating the obvious when I say that we all have different needs and outcomes of those decisions not to mention age,marital status and other variables. Are you in the Land of the long White Crowd ? I ask only as the way the question was posed.
People like our ex P.M. have the funds available so to avoid paying tax here by using a foreign entity. But that is out of my scope of earnings and I expect it is not fiscally advantageous for a small investor.
I also think tax evasion should attract higher penalties commiserate to the amount being avoided, regardless of your social status.

Can you enlighten me as to which type of vehicle can be used to buy our banks or any bluechip from N.Z. to avoid paying tax here ?
But in my limited knowledge I thought that when money is/was repatriated from a foreign entity a tax was due to Aust..
I earn income from Aust. listed shares but are domiciled O.S. and earning outside of Aust. and any money they distribute to me has to be declared and taxed according to our domestic tax laws.
Some one has to pay the ferryman i suppose I am saying.
