Thanks sle and 8horse and also @zmans and others for the interesting comments here .
I have never watched a business on its first day as public company before, and it was interesting to see how high over the 20c subscription price it opened.
Also to see that 6,338,774 were traded .
If there are only 25 million of them floating around, that is around 25% of the company ?
And to see (as per above chart) most of the action happened first thing .
As far as the company goes I really like the idea of the medical 3D technology, partly because when I moved to a new area many years back, by happy chance, the local dentist used Cerec - at the time a revolutionary new dental technology .
It involves 3d photography of a prepared tooth surface followed by a little machine carving a crown that’s an exact exact fit to the tooth (previously teeth were shaped to match crowns). Space age glue sticks the crown on, then everyone lives happily ever after.
More than a decade later I assume this technology is now used by all dentists, despite the investment and re-education required
(At the time my dentist said the field of dentistry was advancing so fast that every three years you had to discard half of what you had previously learned.)
A skull implant, perfectly shaped to match the individual (if that is what Osteopore can do) that bonds with bone sounds like a slightly similar and very excellent idea.
But how large is the market for cranial implants, and how many competitors are out there and how expensive is the technology to make the implant ?
I found this image on Google although I don’t know how reputable the information is :
https://www.grandviewresearch.com/industry-analysis/cranial-implants-market
It just shows a steady curve with the market in 2026 about a third bigger than it is today ?
With this in mind I think the most exciting thing would be if Osteopore could be used in other areas of the body especially in hips and knees.... but maybe there is already plenty of similar tech competition in those fields?
And from point 4 of @sle ‘s post (above) of 21/09/19;
“(4) Funds as I read it are mainly for business development not further R&D”....
It seems the company will be specifically focused on increasing its market share of the cranial implant field only .
I’d appreciate any feedback
Cheers
