Your purchase date of the shares is the date the options are exercised. NOT THE PURCHASE DATE OF THE OPTION.
This is a trap you can fall into with options for example if you owned options for more than 12 months you may be better of selling the options and recieving the 50% discount than exercising them and selling the shares and missing out on the discount if you do not hold the shares for at least another 12 months from the exercise date.
