I think that the Board has had anger directed at it, and they found the executive with the least number of voting shares to eliminate.
Some would argue the CEO should have been held responsible.
I suspect that the CMO was made the scapegoat (or maybe really was the cause) for the failed original submission. Possibly the extended expertise brought in for the revised submission highlighted the failings of the earlier one.
There are lots of other executives in positions that have been doing bugger all, given no approvals. Sales and marketing guy must be great at coffee and chatting over the last few years. The website has been frozen in time.
