Clean TeQ imports autoclaves for Sunrise project

Clean TeQ Holdings Limited (ASX: CLQ) has successfully shipped in two new autoclaves purchased for its Sunrise cobalt and nickel project in New South Wales.

Autoclaves onboard BBC Emerald

The unused autoclaves, which have initially landed in Port Pirie in South Australia, were purchased from Vale International S.A. (a subsidiary of the Brazilian multinational metals and mining group, Vale SA) and arrived onboard the BBC Emerald from New Caledonia.

They have been successfully unloaded to a designated area at Port Pirie, where they will be stored before being transported by road to the Clean TeQ Sunrise Project in time for installation on site.

• Clean TeQ Holdings CEO, Sam Riggall, said the autoclaves are pressure vessels manufactured with steel shells and explosively bonded titanium lining, and represent the critical component of the high-pressure acid leach (HPAL) circuit for the Project.

Each vessel weighs approximately 600 tonnes and measures 30 meters long and 6 meters in diameter.

They were designed and fabricated by Coek Engineering N.V (Coek), Belgium, and are designed to withstand the operating conditions required for effective leaching of nickel, cobalt and scandium from Sunrise ore.

Mr Riggall said Clean TeQ’s Sunrise Project is targeting the increasing global demand for high quality cobalt sulphate and nickel sulphate for the global lithium ion battery market.

The acquisition of these critical long-lead time items at this early stage of Project development will significantly de-risk and compress the project delivery schedule,” he said.

The Clean TeQ Sunrise Project is one of the largest cobalt and nickel deposits outside of Africa, and one of the largest and highest-grade accumulations of scandium ever discovered.
