Amazing that bauxite mine at Weipa - was there about 15 yrs ago on a trip to Cape York. The bauxite is only a couple of metres down - they clear the vegetation, strip off and stockpile the topsoil and overburden down to about 1.5 metres then dig out the bauxite, put back the overburden and topsoil, replant it from their big nursery of the native vegetation and a couple of years on it all looks just like it did before only it is a couple of metres lower.....
I hope Sconi goes just as well.
