    Because we are not comparing like with like.

    I get thoroughly fed up reading about record gold prices. That is absurd and completely misleading because it is igoring 28 years of inflation and devaluation of the US dollar.

    That's right. Ignoring 28 years of inflation devaluation of the US dollar.
