What? That undertaking research is valuable, costly to obtain, both or neither? Or you don't believe my anecdote about the desal plant? Fine, it is ancient history anyway. Another old one is that one wealth manager paid a local in China to count ships coming in and out of port back in the pre-GFC days. It wasn't very easy to get good quality data on China back then.
