Your comment on (lower) price is a little disingenuous, the specs for the 3 are lower than the S so they're just expanding the addressable market (not lower price for the same product). Fair point on gross margins."

If the point on GP Margins is a fair one then I am uncertain how can that be inconsistent with a comment on the need for a higher price for the product.

"Amazon consumed a lot of capital and for a while there were sceptics that they would make it."

When it comes to governance practices and prudent executive behaviour, Bezos is to Musk as cheese is to chalk.

As a high-profile individual, who is effectively the poster child for EVs, I would have thought that Elon Musk has an obligation to act in a way that is totally above reproach, for the sake of the goodwill of the industry he has pioneered. Instead, he appears to be behaving like a good-old fashioned, hard-nosed capitalist.

(To tweet that you have funding lined up to take the company private, and then to raise capital just a few months later at a much lower price could easily be interpreted in some objective quarters as market manipulation.)

To quote what a certain capital market practitioner said about Tesla recently,

"Goodness in some areas atoning for evil in others
Saving the planet as a cover for deceptive and misleading conduct"

One would have thought that those who are supporters of the EV industry would be at the very least circumspect about, but more likely be critical of, the kind of distasteful behaviour from the individual who is the industry pioneer, which causes such commentary to come to the fore.

"I hope Tesla makes it because their product really is a class above. If they don't I wouldn't put it past old oil and old auto to try and get some level of control over the remnants, purely to kill it."

With respect, that kind of thing - "oil and old auto taking over Tesla to kill it off - smacks of a fulsome dollop of conspiratorial hyperbole.
