I should add (perhaps this is TMI but whatever) that since applying for and being accepted onto the Special Access Scheme my right knee has got massively better, courtesy of my having lost 12kg (115kg down to 103kg) in a bit shy of two months and having taken up yoga. I can still feel the bone on bone, but it's annoying rather than debilitating. I can do novel things like climb and descend stairs two at a time and walking more than 250m is no longer something I plan for and avoid doing more than once a day ...
That said, It will be interesting to see whether both knees improve further (it would be lovely to be able to run, or jog at least, for the first time in 7 years) and whether any of my other joint niggles (right shoulder, right wrist, C3/C4 vertebrae improve.
