If it is the takeover guys, I think they've already accepted that they'll take a whack on the dick with that 50,000,000.
Sure the share price will shoot up, but I think the theory goes something like;
1) Short 50,000,000 and suppress the share price.
2) Because of artificially low price, make an ambitious takeover offer of 60c.
3) Lose heaps on the 50,000,000 as the share price shoots up to 60c.
4) Save a packet on the other 1,450,000,000
