Rising Pilbara-based lithium producer Pilbara Minerals has won the emerging exporter category at the WA Industry and Export Awards, an honour handed to an enterprise in any industry sector, which has been exporting goods or services for three years or less.
The company last week won the accolade based on its rapid building of distribution channels and strategic partners in a traditionally slow-moving industry.
Pilbara Minerals managing director Ken Brinsden said the world-class Pilgangoora Lithium-Tantalum Project had been a remarkable development, with Pilbara construction, commissioning and exporting all happening in under four years since the first drill hole. “This extra-ordinary time line is attributed to the significant scale and outstanding quality of the project, the substantial upfront investment and our people and project partners,” he said.
“As well as, our global cust-omer base of leading and experienced battery material and electric vehicle supply companies in China and South Korea.”
Premier Mark McGowan congratulated Pilbara Minerals on their award and their outstanding work supporting WA’s economy.
“The company has shown a vision to contribute strongly to the transformation of global energy towards the manufacture of low emissions technology and clean energy applications,” he said.
Ms Brinsden said winning the award was a testament to their people’s and project partners’ passion, commitment and tireless work.
“Awards like this allow us to celebrate success with our people and partners and recognise the significant effort that goes into delivering one of the largest hard-rock lithium projects globally,” he said.
