The only way out is to rapidly develop alternative energy sources.
There's no quick way out for the US. If they started now full speed ahead on alternative energy it would take probably 5-10 years to get anywhere.
In the mean time there is a power of pain approaching as the US falls further into the abyss of economic ruin by virtue of a depreciating dollar, inflation, unemployment etc.
All good for gold imo.
