Look, I don't care about which political party did what.
What I'm saying is that the more state controls the means of production, the less efficient everything becomes. Flick to any page of history for example of this. Profit motive drives efficiency and productivity. The role of the State is best left to legislate to provide some boundaries/fair practices.
If a monopoly is not allowing competition, IMO the response is Government legislation not Government ownership.
