Macrae12, I agree in principle with you overview of trading psychology. However, you have to ask yourself why CVI is a good case study though. IMO, it is not about a them and us or mob mentality, it is about the potential CVI offers.

I am certainly not following the mob view and never do so. I have done my research and own risk/reward assessment on cvi and other stocks. I believe I will make money on CVI and this is why am holding.

I like many other holders would no doubt have their own investing strategy. I am not an emotional invester and what others on HC post certainly doesn't influence my decisions. I already know at what stage I will be selling a large percentage of my holdings.

While CVI has an enormously long journey to get to where BHP is, how do you know this will not happen one day? Down the track and considering the resources in Angola, CVI may hold a stake in an Angolan company that is similar to BHP. Considering the resources in Angola and the desire for Angolans to not sell off to foreigners, this is possible. As Mark said to me the other day, CVI is providing the governance for such to occur. and it appears to me that this is exacly what is happening atm.

The reason you come onto the cvi thread imo is so you can jump up on your pedestal and preach. You come onto the CVI threads and post in a manner which suggests that all long-term holders are sheep (no pun intended jake) and just following blindly the advise of evil forces.

Can I suggest that you consider your posting manner as your previous posts on cvi certainly haven't impressed me. As for the masses, I just wouldn't know. I do know however a little about psychology and know that people don't like to be constantly harrassed by antagonising bystanders.

I can understand many traders like yourself are frustrated atm. As for me, I am neither frustrated or concerned with my investment in CVI.
