Windows in the cloud is by far the best platform for any serious system like Cargowise - this is not a negative in anyway. The only negatives I hear are how interacts with customers after the sale (thru consultants - which isn't necessarily a bad thing) and the fact that you have to do things the cargowise way (which does work - it's just not perfect). Right now globally they are the only game in town - their only true competitor is Descartes and their operations system is US focused.
At somepoint a competitor will come along and also at somepoint their bigger customers may build their own systems. DHL failed - but that was when software was hard to build - now it's easy and cheap.
