Re; "..If the China slowdown is a load of crap, then why is BHPs shareprice sub $40?
The chinese demand for commodities, is a major contributing factor to BHPs shareprice, and at the moment, there is no doubt that market sentiment in this regard is starting to faulter."

Having read many of your recent posts I deduced you are shorting BHP, something I am not prepared to do since IMO BHP is a global powerhouse being held on a tight leash atm. IMO once that leash is loosened, ......

As for the sub $40 SP, IMO a rest was on the cards following the surge to $50 but that did not mean BHP would falter! IMO speculators & those seeking a big stake at reduced prices have ensured that retrace was pushed hard.

IMO Greenspan's blurt re commodities was a turning point for most mining companies & UBS's reported global lead on shorting BHP is now in the media:

As for me 'Old China' [lol], looks like they've quickly gained control over inflation & are set to rev up post Olympics - having allowed commodities to settle down before that ramp up:

IMO market sentiment in general has indeed been very bearish these last 12 months. But from here bears will have to work very hard to keep SPs this low since the undervaluing of quality stocks is increasingly apparent - at least Chinese investors know BHP's real worth:
