If it took $66 billion to bring the NBN to most households in Australia then how much money is it going to cost to install 10 million car chargers in Australia and who is going to pay for them knowing that the public are going to have their own chargers at home?
Then there is the copper cost to upgrade every house and building and the way people believe eg those trucks are charged in 30 minutes..... The battery must be pulling a huge amount of current..... imagine your local power station trying to just all of a sudden pump out huge amounts of current because delays on the motorway have caused everyone to plug in at the same time.
They can hardly keep up power supply when we all turn on our air conditioning..... There are so many problems that lie ahead for the EV market.
The government is going to have to regulate the amount of EV’s entering their markets except where a country has nuclear power.
There are so many obstacles ahead for the EV market for eg China are just going to claim There developing status which allows them to burn coal to charge their vehicles.
I don’t think the world has enough copper for all the chargers required as it won’t be a trickle charge for 24 hrs but a huge boost of energy with very thick cables to take the current.
An EV requires 50 kg of copper to produce one as well...
so 1 million vehicles needs 50 000 Tons of copper.
4 million wheel motors for 1 million cars..... do we have enough rare Earth materials to produce the magnets in these motors.
I just cannot see how most countries are going to invent double the amount of power stations in your 10 to 15 year projections.
I think this is going to turn out to be called the boom that never happened.
For all you optimistic people out there.... I just see a gradual EV market being slow and regulated over 50 years or until a substitute for batteries arrives.
