Terrorism is not "here". There was an attack in Spain. We do not not know why it happened. It could still be internal ETA politics. There has not been a terrorist attack in Australia. Stop panicking.
The last bomb that went off in Australia was the Hilton bombing over 25 years ago. That perpetrator was NOT a terrorist with political motives.
Did you read Orwell's 1984 at school? Do you remember how the regime maintained power and control over the masses... .They were perpetually at war.... But the war wasn't real, it was a manufactured lie to maintain control. Unity through adversity. Just as the characters looked up at the movie screens to see Oceania always at war, so too Australians now get fed bullshit news stories about some mob called Al-Quiada??, who are immediately blamed for every single act of terrorism that has come down.
The Australian government's policy on terrorism security is conveniently ambiguous. Check out www.nationalsecurity.gov.au - the threat level is MEDIUM because there is "no particular threat". It says "the public will be advised of any significant change in the situation as it relates to the safety of the Australian community"
But then the PM says "everyone is a potential target". This is scaremongering - political manipulation of those who don't know any better - creating "unity through adversity" and votes.

BALI you might say? - to me, the message of the Bali bombers was "please stay out of our affairs/country" - it DOESN'T necessarily say that we will attack you on your on soil (Australia).
