How is current terrorism any different than anytime in the past (except perhaps in the size of attack)? The IRA were bombing Germany and other places in Europe in recent decades. This was well removed from Ireland. The PLO were operating all over the place - well removed from Palestine. The Lockerbee disaster etc etc etc? Munich Olympics. etc etc etc. The geographical context argument for a NEW type of terrorism is rubbish...
I'm sure you will come up with nuances about these attacks during the "War on Terror", and how they are SOOOOO different. They are no different. It is plain old terrorism such as we have seen throughout over the 20th century.
