re: sept 11 and madrid...amory Amory,

I understand your position...I think its is crucial for thinking Western people to decide whether your proposition below is correct:

    Amory:
"this war is not about territorial conquest, it's about one creed of hate (amory will not do it the honor of calling it a religion) determined to dominate another. that indisputable fact should override all other considerations."

Have you read any of Howard Bloom's work? www.howardbloom.net

He makes strong arguments that Islam is a "killer culture", that perpetuates itself through the slaughter of human beings. There is a chapter devoted to this in his book "The Lucifer Principle". There is also a detailed explanation of his position on his website.

It is very compelling, in fact, mind blowing reading. I think it will add a lot of fuel to your fire...and material for your book (if you haven't read him already).

However, I do not agree with your statement:

"Terrorism doesn't deal in messages, it deals in terror"

Although I am a little swayed by Howard Bloom's "killer culture" argument, I firmly believe that every terrorist bombing does have a message behind it. At the moment I think the main message is "Get out of the Middle East, and stay out of our affairs in Muslim countries"

Muslim expansionist/killer culture argument or not, this at the very least is what terrorists are saying to the U.S. and the rest of the Coalition countries. It extends to non-coalition countries too - the Chechnyian bombings in Moscow - same deal - although these attacks had family revenge as a motive also ...

    Regards,

    Christian
