I am still of the belief that you do what you have to so as to attract trading partners. If the AWB did not pay the kick backs Iraq may not have bought our wheat.

What would you do is such a situation? Sacrifice your farmers on grounds of high morality or play the game and pay the kick backs? I am sure as a good union man you would not oppose kick backs, given the union movement has been famous for such over the years.

As for reading Costello's memoirs I doubt I will. My interest in politics lies in the current policy settings of the day. Opposition parties and past leaders airing dirty laundry has never interested me. It is all history and I am concerned with the here and now.
