You may not have been around when I said this, but I will take my loss....when I need it for tax purposes. Otherwise there is no point to selling at these levels because the proceeds won't be meaningful enough for me to divert it to alternative investments.I have written off the investment in my mind anyway, so any other outcome will be a bonus (but I won't be holding my breath).
The obvious exception to that is if it is clear they are going to go under - I don't want what remains of my position to be stuck indefinitely and would rather realise the loss and use it to offset my future CGT liabilities. In that case I'll be out faster than AJX can conjure up yet another "Investor Presentation"!
