Australia needs a strong Labor party, page-32

the only way to make major changes is to do it once youre in power. This is Australia not Europe
where people are a bit more intellectual in their thinking, and its not just about money in the pocket.

Auz is similar to the UK in a way. Margaret Thatcher closes coal mines when she was in power,
in spite of riots, and her popularity increased. Only way to do it when youre in control.

Labor cannot try to connect with the working man, as there are very few of them left. And most
are now earning high salaries, and will likely vote Liberal.

The only way things will change here is major cultural change. And that doesnt happen overnight.

Labor had a huge billion $ green fund in mind, but the population ignored it and voted Liberal!..

Perhaps Liberals should have had one too (a proper green agenda), and then we'd all be better off.
Hey just stumbled on a plan to save the planet hehe, as I was writing the above... Liberals should adopt
similar policies to Labor, but at the same time continue with the others that won them the election,
    because they will win anyway.
Probably even get more votes as the new generation coming out of school will vote for them once they see
    the green policies.

But putting the green issues aside, it will be interesting to see the results of this conservative, right wing
government. There are others, for example Hungary and Poland who are in a similar situation.
Conversely there are socialist countries in Europe, who are doing quite well, for eg France and Sweden.
Seems like a win-win no matter who's in power.
