Paying to acquire retailers is common in the older BNPL market. Eg Latitude pays for Harvey Norman, JB HiFi/TGG. Flexigroup pays for Flight Centre.
The difference is, these customers are applying for the traditional credit card that comes with annual fees, high interest rates & hopefully customers spending on the credit card so they can interchange fees & interest.
At least this deal is not upfront cash
