    You are of course correct about all those additional things, so maybe including all these it becomes 5 or 10 to 1.

    As for the decarbonisation of mining it doesn’t matter what the key driver is, eg reduced ventilation, the point is it is happening, and will happen more and more.

    EVs are going to take off, and they will overall cause a vast reduction in CO2 output per vehicle, but they are going to take decades to seriously diminish the need for oil. Sure the production of EVs is going to use quite a bit of oil, and in most places quite a bit of their electricity will come from fossil fuels, but all less so as decarbonisation of the global economy takes effect, which it would through efficiency improvements and increasingly cheap renewables etc even if not driven by climate concerns.

    Dorado will happen while oil is still in high demand, but I am not inclined to make further investments in the oil sector, CVN will be my last. We’ve perhaps got another 10 or 15 years imho before decline slowly sets in.
