Mozz, great analysis.
Just to keep our little club updated, I had injection #10 a couple of days ago.
According to the script, I should be seeing results by now. Here's my current observations.
I had a bit iof a weird moment last week (Wednesday) where the pain I nmormally have in my right knee spread downwards during the afternoon, feeling almost like a shin splint, and then it settled on the top of my right foot during the evening, while I was at the Opera House at the Bryn Terfel concert. I brought this to the attention of the good doctor during Friday's jab, and he took a look at asked me to monitor closely.
Said pain has now dissipated entirely - I put it down to yet another of the weird received pain sensations I get from time to time (I had neck and shoulder paion received into my right jand as spasms about a year ago, making it impossible to write, for example).
As for my knee, It's in brilliant shape. As I've written elsewhere, I'm sure a lot of the improvement can be attributed to 13kg weight loss and increased exercise (Vinyasa yoga in my case), but over the last few days I have noticed changes. I have bone on bone in the medial (inside) side of my right knee, and now the pain (which is really quite bearable is very focussed on that exact spot. I can feel it come and go as I rock my knee out (compressing the medial compartment) and in (opening it up). A few weeks ago, the whole knee hurt, all the time.
Other physical changes - I no longer limp (well, I do a bit, courtesy of the tibiotalar fusion of my left ankle in 2013, that will never change ) and I climb stairs normally and no longer dread doing so.
I've also noticed other changes - most noticeably I have regained some movement in the toes of my left foot and I have, currently, no other joint pain anywhere except a mild lower back grumble.
My bottom line: I think this stuff is beginning to work for me. I haven't felt this good, biomechanically, for years.
My last two 'official' injections are next week although the good doctor indicated he might give me a few more, of which I will be an enthusiatic consumer.
Funny little story. My lady friend has a 14 year old Tibetan spaniel who developed a limp a few weeks ago. Off to the vet they went, and injections ensued. I asked here last night if she knew what the jabs were ... she said 'Oh i can't remember .... IPP something or other?' ... so it seems that her two favourite old men are being treated with the same thing .....
