Ok where do I start. It's late and without finding all the links this is off the top of my head, so no doubt I will forget some.
Firstly, the complex was insured (just weeks before) for $billions which was collected.
.The buildings were unprofitable-it was a white elephant, and they were very expensive to maintain.
.They were overdue for renovation and because of the deadly asbestos covering the steelwork they would have eventually had to be demolished. This was estimated to have cost $15 billion, $1bill just for the scaffold alone.
.There was apparently over $1bill. in gold stored in underground vaults of which only a fraction was recovered and that was in the back of an armoured truck with it's doors still open, down in the basement.
.Many of the offices were let to Gov't agencies, one of which had lawsuits pending in cases such as Enron etc. Naturally most of these cases fell apart cos the evidence 'disappeared'
There's much more but if a cop is looking for a motive in a crime he doesn't usually need more than 3 or 4.
If you are fair dinkum about finding the truth of the matter I suggest you do some research. There is plenty of smoking guns out there. Cheers
