You guys all assume Apple direct stores are bad for business and are going to hit Next Byte..
I like the look of Next Byte and think its fantastic for Next Byte that Apple products are doing so well that Apple can afford $25 million to set up a showcase store in Sydney or Melbourne or whatever
Bottom line: if Next Byte fails, it will be poor execution from VTG (which can't be ruled out!!), not the big Apple shadow..Apple direct is not intended to be a comprehensive retailer but more a showpiece..
Next Byte, compared to Fone Zone, appears a pretty good business to be in.....note many of their shops are 'the university mac' shop.....these are not discretionary retail businesses....which have a strong 'technician, repair focus'.....that bodes well for a market where apple products are gaining market share
