In Madrid, basic absorption refrigeration would be installed, so the heat can be utilised year round. The payback period for such units on larger commercial installations is estimated to be around 8 years.
By retrofitting a ready-made market for thermal energy, PTR Espana can exploit a market that is unavailable in Australia, and represents a significantly de-risked project that, from this investor's perspective, is the company's greatest strength.
I'm not loading up on a particularly large position either, and my holding in PAX is an order of magnitude larger than that of PTR, if that answers your question. PAX, by means of the Limestone Coast project, presents a different risk profile than PTR, but it is of the same magnitude (i.e relatively low), and is set to decrease further when the European JV partner is finalised after their summer holidays.
