There certainly looks like a lot of opportunity here - not only kneeguard, but lower back, neck, elbow, shoulder and ankle 'guards', as well as medicinal cannabis, plus vitamins, minerals and supplement patches.
Could be big if it takes off.
OBJ Limited (ASX: OBJ) is pleased to report the Australian Patent Office has issued a Notice of Acceptance for Bodyguard Patent No. 2015274237, covering the range of Bodyguard products. The Company was notified of the patent being accepted on 14thNovember 2019 with an expiry date of 10th June 2035, and will now move to Grant upon the payment and processing of normal fees. There are no further obstacles to overcome. The Company awaits responses to the same patent application filed in USA, Europe, China and Hong Kong.The patent titled “DEVICE AND METHOD TO TREAT OR PREVENT JOINT DEGENERATION” covers the combination of actives driven by magnetic array, encased in proprioceptive bandage. The patent was developed with Kneeguard in mind, however other joints including lower back, neck, elbow, shoulder and ankle can all be accommodated by simple shape refinements.
In the same manner, the formulation cited in this patent provides opportunities to create injury recovery, performance enhancement, endurance and treatment formulations for all of the major joints of the body.
This builds a platform for a wide range of specialist products.
Jeffrey Edwards, OBJ Managing Director said, “This is an important patent as it protects a number of key Intellectual Property assets of the Company and is the first patent to be accepted in a growth sector of consumer healthcare and Wellness.”
George Tsadilas, General Manager of Bodyguard Lifesciences Pty Ltd stated: “The acceptance of the Bodyguard patent provides validation for the R&D team and gives the Company greater economic certainty as we move towards commercial launch”.
He added, “Furthermore, the patent will support the development of collaborative ventures with Little Green Pharma for medicinal patches and leverage Nutrition Systems’ expertise in vitamins, minerals and supplements to create a range of sport, wellness and lifestyle enhancing patch products”
