Pretty sweeping statement there. To quote from the relevant Qld Govt Website: "The blue card check is more than a police check, it looks at a charge or conviction for any offence in Australia, even if no conviction was recorded (this includes spent convictions, pending and non-conviction charges)."

So investigation goes way beyond any child related offences. For example, a conviction (or worse an unconvicted charge of possession of Cannabis) would be looked at. I have the suspicion that plenty of volunteer Firies would not want to reveal such a charge (or similar) just to risk their lives putting out fires. Just sayin!
