Not sure anyone get's the pension if they've got half a mil in investments, Mark. As for a pensioners home, most don't regard it as an investment or care about its monetary value. They regard it as a roof over their head that they broke their backs paying for.
That said, I have considerable empathy for the younger generation and the hardships of bringing up a family in the current environment. But please appreciate that very few Baby Boomers got is easy. Different, yes, but not necessarily easy.
