You grew up prior to 1890 when the welfare system was introduced in Australia? Well congratulations on your longevity! (It was actually a safety net then as well and while no one wanted to be on welfare there was far less stigma. Also social housing was widespread and accessible and actually helped enable people from that time period).

You would also not be a boomer.

As for healthcare, every Boomer has had access to affordable health care for the majority of their adult life. They've also had full universal health care for half their life.

You are not your parents' generation. They would have objectively lived in tougher times. Boomers have easily had the best run of any generation in history.

Even the mortality rates are against the generations either side of the Boomers with life expectancy expected to peak with the Boomer and slowly drop back for the first time since Australia was settled.

(I'm not saying any of it is the boomer's fault. You only took advantage of the circumstances available to you to get ahead. Anyone would do the same. All I'm asking for is the slightest hint of self awareness that those that have come before you and followed you are far less lucky and have to work far harder to get ahead. So, you probably shouldn't insult them while they're doing it)
