Didn’t @h00ts mention something when the royal commission was happening about how rather then crystallising losses, instos were paying out cash amounts to lenders of the stock in order to maintain their short position and therefore cooking the books so that profits were inflated? I never followed up on the outcome of that, but if it is still being done, the large shorts may not actually have to cover.....
