The majority of Australians (& increasing) across all income groups are increasingly concerned about the wealth gap between rich & poor & yet Australians are dead set a tax that would directly address that (death taxes).
Taxing income of rich people doesn't reduce their wealth it only reduces it's growth rate. Death taxes would decrease rich people's wealth & enable lower taxes on the poor. If you don't want to impact people with relatively modest assets start the tax at $2.5m or $5m or $20m? Whatever is palatable.
If nothing is done the situation will only increase. Personally I have nothing against the rich getting richer, good luck to them, however I am concerned about the most vulnerable in society.
