Tiger Resources buys out Gecamines to take control of KipoiTiger Resources has reached an agreement to buy Gecamines’ 40% stake in the Kipoi copper mine in the Democratic Republic of Congo for $111 million, the Australia-listed miner announced on Thursday August 28. The deal will give Tiger 100% ownership of Société d’Exploitation de Kipoi SA (SEK), the local owner of the Kipoi project, but it will continue to pay Gecamines a 2.5% gross turnover royalty after the transaction closes. It will also cede a 5% interest in SEK to the DRC government in order to bring the mining licence for Kipoi into accordance with national mining laws and regulations.
looks like the original owners of Kipoi get it back for a song.
