I thought the article was bollocks, based on a UBS "opinion" again, the motives of which I believe are suspect, most other analysts do not share their view.
If I used afterpay and merchants charged me a surcharge I would shop somewhere else just like I do with merchants who apply credit card surcharges. If they want sales, they won't apply a surcharge IMO.
